SIGN OF BALANCE SHEET AFTER DEATH OF PROPRIETOR
X an individual expires in April 2018, how his business which is under tax audit will be signed and by whom, in what capacity. Whether his wife can sign the balance sheet and ITR if the business is still going to be run by his spouse in future. And how the ITR with TAR will be signed Digitally Please explain

Legal heirs will sign but u HV to add him as legal heirs on income tax site. After adding him u can file return and tax audit report also u HV to required DSC of legal heirs.

Legal heir (may be his wife) is required to sign the ITR and Balance. Please read section 159 of the income tax.
Document and procedure for filing ITR
The legal representative would have to be registered on the tax portal. For this, she needs to log in to the e-filing website, using the credentials of the deceased person, and place a request to register the legal representative. Copies of specified documents such as PAN card (self-attested), death certificate, legal heir certificate and PAN card (of the deceased) need to be uploaded. The tax authorities would send a confirmation mail to the registered e-mail ID, approving the request. On receipt, the legal representative can file the tax returns of the deceased person. They would have to log in using their own credentials for this purpose
