In order to facilitate faster decisions on key infrastructure projects that are stuck for various reasons, the government will soon undertake a restructuring exercise of the secretariat of the recently created Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI).
Sources said the government is looking at tweaking the functioning of the committee’s secretariat on the lines of an inter-ministerial group (IMG) in order to better resolve outstanding issues.The decision to reinforce the CCI is under works after receiving adverse feedback from industry and its own analysis of the internal workings, sources said.“I will be deeply dissatisfied if the CCI continues to function as it is doing now and does not come up with concrete and quick solutions over next two months,” said a top functionary of the government, hinting at the the restructuring of CCI.
