QUERY ON SERVICE TAX – (INDIRECT TAXES)
QUERY ON SERVICE TAX: FACTS OF THE CASE: Mutual Fund agent who is renderg services to Mutual Fund Companies for distribution and marketg of mutual fund products, has turn appoted a sub agent for marketg of the same, which is a private limited company. However, there is no legal bdg agreement between the mutual fund agent and sub agent i.e. the company. Please crify the followg legal pots on the above subject: 1. Whether the private limited company (sub agent) is liable to service tax? 2. Enlighten the legal position of the Mutual Fund Companies, respect of service tax liability post 01-04-2005 scenario, where the burden of service tax payment shifted on to Mutual Fund Companies receivg such services? 3. Mr X Workg City A from st 2 years. Durg his 2nd year of employemnt he purchased a apartment City B (native palce - i.e other than the pce of employment.) Query 1. Can Mr.X cim the Gross annual value of property as Nil U,s 23 (2)(b)? 2. Is there a condition that the house to be cimed as self occupied U,s 23 (2) (b) should have been occupation of assessee for self rence and durg his self occupation period, he got a employment offer other city and because of which the property is vacant. 3. If the ft purchased City B durg assessees employment is City A is used by assessee parents for their self occupation , can that be cimed as self occupied though the owner of the house is not livg with them. '

Tax implication on amount received from the government on sale of land to government (land at shamshabad occupied by by government for airport purpose) – (DIRECT TAXES)
Dear Colleagues, Case: X aged about 80yrs owned nd at shamshabad given by the government free of cost as a freedom fighter. the year F.Y 2005-2006, govt. tookover the nd for airport purpose and gave a conration of about Rs.20 cs for the same. What would be the tax implication his hands? Also X would like to give same amount to his grandson for startg,openg a petrol bunk, Can he do so ?
